Meggan’s favorite thing about this sturdy and strong cordless hand mixer is that it can stand on its own, which is a huge improvement from the days of resting your mixer on the edge of a mixing bowl and hoping it won’t fall over (because it always did anyway!). It’s easy to insert and remove the batteries and it has its own Soft Start feature to prevent splattering, so you’re a lot less likely to get batter all over your countertops.

This KitchenAid model has 7 speed options, allowing you to slowly stir in chunky ingredients at speed one or whip egg whites or heavy cream (think homemade meringue or whipped cream) at speed 7. Plus, the rechargeable lithium-ion battery offers optimal runtime and performance so it can hold a charge for several weeks with intermittent use. It may not work as well as stand mixers for really heavy doughs, but it’s compact enough to pack on a camping trip for fireside pancakes

  •  Number of Speeds: 7
  •  Power: 12 volts
  •  Weight: 2.1 pounds

One of our favorite things about this model is its two-hour charging time and the handy LED display that shows the battery life. We’re also big fans of the dishwasher-safe beaters, while the mixer itself boasts a smooth surface that’s easy to wipe down. Other Cordless Hand Mixers to Consider

Tru Cordless Hand Mixer

The Tru Cordless Hand Mixer is a budget-friendly option that aims to provide convenience and basic functionality for everyday mixing tasks. It operates on a rechargeable battery, which offers decent power for typical mixing needs like whisking eggs, blending batters, or whipping cream. However, it’s not as powerful as the picks on our list, and the way the storage unit is designed takes up a lot of space. The Tru Cordless Hand Mixer is available at Macy’s for $69.99.

KitchenAid Go Cordless Hand Mixer

This model is quiet with 7 speeds to whip up lots of ingredients, and it has a soft start with up to 60 minutes of runtime. We also love that it’s designed to stand all on its own, lifting the beaters up and out of the bowl and workspace to cut down on messes. At a higher price point, though, we’d ideally want a bit more power and attachments. The KitchenAid Go Cordless Hand Mixer is available at Amazon for $99.95.

Everything to Know Before Buying a Cordless Hand Mixer

What to Consider Before Buying a Cordless Hand Mixer

There are a ton of great reasons why you should upgrade to the simplicity of a cordless hand mixer. Here are a few things to keep in mind while you shop:

  • Charging Time: Check how long it takes to fully charge the mixer. A shorter charging time is more convenient, especially if you need to use the mixer frequently.
  • Battery Life: Look for a mixer with a long-lasting battery that can handle multiple tasks on a single charge.
  • Power: Make sure the mixer has enough power to handle a variety of tasks. Higher wattage generally means a more powerful motor that can handle things like thick dough without starting to smell hot or overworked.
  • Speed: More speed settings mean you can have better control over mixing tasks.
  • Attachments: Check out which attachments come with the mixer (or can be purchased as an add-on). Common attachments include beaters, dough hooks, and whisks.
  • Storage: Our favorite cordless hand mixers come with built-in storage, which can help you stay organized and make it less likely to lose an attachment.
  • Ease of Cleaning: Dishwasher-safe attachments save time and effort. We also suggest mixers with smooth surfaces and not a lot of nooks and crannies so you can wipe them down quickly and easily.

What Are the Benefits of a Cordless Hand Mixer?

Cutting the cord allows for so much more freedom of movement. Without being tethered to an outlet, you can use one to mix ingredients anywhere in your kitchen. It’s especially great for crowded kitchens with inconveniently located outlets. Most mixers are also lightweight and have an ergonomic design that makes them easy enough for anyone to use.

Can You Shred Chicken with a Hand Mixer?

Meggan says it’s easy to shred chicken with a hand mixer (and it’s a lot less messy than using your hands!). Just add the cooked chicken breast to a mixing bowl, turn on the beaters, and press down into the chicken. You can use it for recipes like her delicious Buffalo Chicken Dip

Can You Make Butter with a Hand Mixer?

Yes, you can! All you need is heavy whipping cream and a pinch of salt. Add both ingredients to a large mixing bowl and start mixing the cream on a low speed to avoid any splatters. Gradually increase the speed until the cream thickens to your desired consistency.

You’ll know the butter is done when stiff peaks form and the cream starts to separate. A fine mesh strainer works well to strain out the butter, and then you can move the butter to store in the refrigerator.

Is a Stand Mixer or Hand Mixer Better for Baking?

Choosing between a stand mixer and a hand mixer for baking depends on several factors, including the types of recipes you frequently make, the amount of space you have, and your budget.

A stand mixer might be the best option for you if you often bake large batches or work with heavy doughs because they are more powerful. It’s also nice that they have hands-free operation and that they’re built to last the long term. However, stand mixers are generally more expensive, require a lot of storage space, and are heavy.

Hand mixers are great for occasional baking because they’re lightweight, easy to maneuver, and easy to store. However, they are less powerful (which can be limiting for some recipes), require more manual effort, and the selection of attachments may be limited.
