This easy-breezy Strawberry Margarita is made with just 5 ingredients and a blender. Add a salted rim and have it on the rocks or frozen. Either way, it’,s delicious!
In your question for the perfect Strawberry Margarita, never settle for frozen strawberries! I know they are “frozen at the peak of freshness” or whatever Big Frozen Produce says, but they taste bland and watery in this drink. As a classically-trained chef with plenty of cocktail-making experience, I won’t let you settle! Grab a pound of the freshest strawberries you can find and blend them up with tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and honey. This recipe has the perfect ratio of ingredients – not my words, just check the comments! Two hundred 5-star reviews can’t be wrong.

Strawberry Margarita Recipe ingredients
- Margarita salt: Homemade margarita salt is fun to make when you’re feeling extra. Or, use kosher salt or even sugar.
- Strawberries: We recommend fresh strawberries for this cocktail. Frozen strawberries lacked flavor and tasted “watery.”
- Tequila: For a similar, stronger flavor, substitute Mezcal.
- Honey: Or substitute simple syrup, agave nectar, or sugar to taste.
- Triple sec: Or substitute your favorite orange liqueur such as Grand Mariner, Cointreau, or Curacao.
What’s the best blender for frozen drinks?
You can easily make this strawberry margarita a frozen one by adding some ice to the mix. But you’ll want a good blender to do so. Otherwise you’ll be left with icy bits that makes sipping a little less smooth. I’ve relied on my trusty Vitamix Professional Series 750 Blender since Culinary School back in 2016, and I found that it’s the best blender for crushing ice without being too noisy—so it’s not a party crasher.
How to make Strawberry Margaritas
- In a shallow dish as wide as your serving glass, add Margarita salt (or kosher salt) to 1/4-inch deep. Run a lime wedge around the top of each glass, then dip the top of the glass upside-down into the salt and turn to coat.
- To a blender, add strawberries, tequila, lime juice, honey, and triple sec. Pulse until completely smooth.
- Let mixture rest for about 3 minutes, and skim off foam. Add more tequila or sweetener to taste.
- Fill each rimmed glass about half full with ice. Add margarita mixture, garnish with a lime wedge, and serve immediately.
It’s an investment that will last you for years (and for many, many frozen drinks), but I think it’s absolutely worth it. You can get it for around $600 at Amazon, and I also like using the Blendtec Classic blender for frozen drinks. It’s a little louder but also cheaper for just $380 at Amazon.

Can I make this recipe earlier in the day and keep in the fridge until evening?
Hi Tessa, the margarita mix can be refrigerated after skimming the foam, and will likely need to be remixed before serving if it separates. – Meggan
